Van Festivals: The Concept
If you’ve spent any time in the UK van life community, you’ll have seen them mentioned — gatherings for people who live in or love vans, usually in a field somewhere, usually with bunting and artisan coffee.
What to Expect
You park up in a designated spot, there are talks and workshops during the day, and a general vibe of people being delighted to meet each other’s dogs.
The Community Bit
I had conversations at this festival that I think about still. People who’ve been doing this for years. People who are just starting out. As a solo female van lifer, there’s something specifically good about being around other solo women.
The Van Nosiness
Obviously everyone wants to look at everyone else’s van. This is understood and encouraged. Sioux got a few compliments, which I took personally.
So — Worth It?
Yes. If you want genuine people who understand this lifestyle and time around people who don’t think your life choices are weird: absolutely worth it.
